The same word, PvP, covers very different deals. Here is how each format pays the operator and why some well-known sites are missing.
Slot battles
Every player buys the same bonus on the same slot and the best result takes the pot. On Rollbit the winner receives the total of everyone's bonus payouts. Each buy is still an ordinary slot bet at that slot's RTP, so the pot is smaller than the money paid in on average, whatever the battle fee.
Acebet charges nothing between players and 1% on bot payouts. Rollbit and Gamdom publish no separate battle fee and earn from the slot edge. Seats are not always people: Acebet and Gamdom let you fill seats with bots, and on Rollbit battles of $100 or more can call Rollbot, a staff member buying on the house's behalf.

Case battles and coinflip
CSGOEmpire is the only case-battle operator whose licence we could verify, on the Curaçao Gaming Authority certificate. Its coinflip takes 0.5% of the winnings and its cases carry an 8.8% house edge. A site bot can join a coinflip, capped at 200,000 coins, so a flip sold as PvP can be against the house.
We do not list CSGORoll, Clash.gg or CaseBattles.gg: none states a gambling licence, and a company address in Nevis, Cyprus or Belize is not one. Clash.gg describes itself as a sweepstakes. Sweden banned the operator of Hellcase on 27 October 2025. Skin gambling has a history of reaching under-18s, and the UK Gambling Commission warns that children may be gambling with skins.

Poker
Poker is the oldest P2P format: the room never plays a hand and takes rake from each pot up to a cap. ACR Poker takes about 5% on no-limit pots, capped at $0.50 to $3 a hand; WPT Global takes 4% on Hold'em; CoinPoker publishes caps rather than a percentage. All three use RNG shuffles, not provably fair seeds.
ACR requires rake or tournament fees of at least 10% of everything you have deposited before a withdrawal. SwC Poker is not listed because it states no licence and needs only an email to play.

Betting exchanges
On an exchange you back or lay against other bettors and pay commission only on net winnings in each market: 2% at Smarkets, 2% at Matchbook and 2% on the Betfair Basic package. These are the only P2P sites in our guides with a UK Gambling Commission licence, and they do not take crypto.
Betdaq stopped taking bets on 21 October 2026 after Matchbook's owner bought the brand. SX Bet, a USDC exchange on-chain, is not listed: it states no gambling licence and its own fee pages disagree. Azuro and bookmaker.xyz pool liquidity, so you bet against a pool, not a matched player.

Prediction markets
You buy yes or no shares from other traders at $0.01 to $0.99 and a winning share pays $1. Kalshi is a CFTC-regulated exchange for US residents, with a taker fee of 0.07 x contracts x price x (1 - price), rounded up. Smarkets runs politics markets on its exchange.
Polymarket.com blocks the US and UK and says it is not regulated by the CFTC; Americans use Polymarket US, run by QCX LLC, a separate CFTC-regulated exchange. Federal appeals courts are split over sports contracts: the 3rd Circuit ruled for Kalshi, the 9th and 6th against.
