Crypto coinflip: how PvP coinflip works

Crypto coinflip is the simplest PvP gambling format: one player opens a flip with a stake and a side, a second player matches it, and one random result sends both stakes, minus a fee, to the winner. The odds are 50/50, so the fee is the whole cost of playing. Published fees run from 0.5% to 5% of the pot as of October 2026.

How a PvP coinflip works

01

Open or pick a flip

The creator sets the stake and picks a side. Open flips wait in a lobby until someone joins.

02

A challenger matches the stake

The joiner pays the same amount and takes the other side. On Suigar's smart contract the joiner cannot change the amount, and the creator can cancel a flip nobody has joined.

03

The result is fixed

On CSGOEmpire no result exists until someone joins. The site then takes an EOS blockchain block mined after the join as the public seed.

04

The winner is paid

Both stakes go to the winner after the fee comes off the pot or the winnings.

05

Verify the flip

On provably fair sites the secret seed is revealed after the round, so the result can be recomputed.

Worked example

Illustrative $100 flips against another player, using each site's published fee as of October 2026. Solpump's rate comes from an archived copy of its page.

What a $100 coinflip pays at three published fee levels
Fee levelPotFeeWinner receivesNet win
0.5% (CSGOEmpire)$200.00$1.00$199.00$99.00
2% (CoinWager)$200.00$4.00$196.00$96.00
5% (PVPspinArena, Solpump)$200.00$10.00$190.00$90.00
Average loss per flip at 0.5% / 2% / 5%$0.50 / $2.00 / $5.00
Win rate needed to break even50.25% / 51.02% / 52.63%

A fair coin wins half the time, so each player pays half the fee on average. A hundred $100 flips at 5% cost about $500 in expectation; at 0.5% the same run costs about $50.

Crypto coinflip fees: what each site takes

Coinflip gambling has no house edge in the coin itself, so the operator's cut is the only number that matters. The published rates as of October 2026:

SiteCoinflip feeHow it is taken
CSGOEmpire0.5%Cut of a won flip: a 50-coin flip pays back 99.5 coins. It was 3% before 30 May 2023.
CoinWager2%Two 1 SOL stakes pay the winner 1.96 SOL.
CaseBattles.gg5%Listed as the coinflip house edge.
PVPspinArena5%Of the combined pot; cancelled rounds are refunded without it.
Solpump5%A win pays 1.9 times the stake.

CSGOEmpire's figures are on its coinflip update note. Suigar publishes no number for its PvP coinflip: the page says the winner is paid "after any applicable fees", and its terms say the edge varies by game and is shown before you confirm a bet.

Speed is what makes a small fee expensive. A flip settles in seconds, and the fee applies to every one, so a player who flips the same balance repeatedly pays the cut many times over in a session. Strategy cannot change this: each flip is independent, and no betting pattern alters a 50/50 result.

The basis of the fee matters as much as the rate. On a 1v1 flip, a cut of the pot and a cut of the winnings work out the same, but in multi-player pots and arena cash-outs the fee can include your own stake. Our jackpot pot guide shows that arithmetic.

PvP coinflip or the house: bots and thin lobbies

A PvP coinflip is meant to pit you against another player, but the other side is not always a person:

  • Site bots: CSGOEmpire lets a site bot join coinflips. Bot flips are capped at 200,000 Empire Coins, while player flips have no limit (CSGOEmpire help). Against the bot you are betting against the house.
  • An account named after the site: in Suigar's live lobby on 27 October 2026, an account named suigar.sui was a party to all 12 recent duels listed and topped the PvP leaderboard with 67 bets. Low volume and one dominant counterparty mean the format barely works as player-versus-player there.
  • House-banked flips sold as coinflip: RustMagic's Rust coinflip links to X-Flip, a house-banked game paying 1.80 times the stake, and several crypto casinos run single-player flip games against the house. Check whether a lobby shows another named player before you stake.

Collusion and multi-accounting are the other PvP risk. CSGOEmpire's terms let it void bets connected to bots, scripts or collusion, which also means a win can be taken back if the site links your account to one of those.

Is coinflip legit? Provably fair and on-chain flips

There are two separate questions: whether the flip itself is fair, and whether the site is a business you can hold to account.

The flip. Most crypto coinflip sites use commit-reveal: they publish a hash of a secret server seed before the round and reveal the seed afterwards, so anyone can recompute the result. CSGOEmpire combines a private seed, the round ID and an EOS block mined after the challenger joins, and publishes a verification script (how CSGOEmpire coinflip is fair). CoinWager publishes its formula, HMAC-SHA256 of the server seed with the client seed and nonce. Our provably fair dice explainer walks through a full check with real values.

Smart-contract flips. Suigar holds both stakes in a contract on the Sui blockchain and draws the result with Sui's on-chain randomness. Its own docs warn that this randomness "alone does not prevent every application-level attack", and the MoveBit audit report dated November 2025 lists a coinflip file but no PvP coinflip module. Solpump says its contracts were reviewed by auditors such as CertiK; we found no audit report.

The operator. CSGOEmpire is the one coinflip site we found whose licence checks out: Curaçao Gaming Authority OGL/2024/1183/0869, shown as Active on the CGA certificate page. PVPspinArena names no company or licence, CoinWager publishes no terms, Suigar describes itself as an interface to smart contracts, and Solpump's Tuvalu number appears on a register run by the authority's appointed licensing agent. With no licence, there is no regulator to complain to if a withdrawal stalls.

Bitcoin coinflip, SOL and skins: what you stake

What you can stake depends on the site, and so does who holds your money while you play:

  • CSGOEmpire: CS2 skins, crypto and card methods, converted into Empire Coins. Identity checks are required at the latest once deposits and withdrawals reach 4,500 coins.
  • PVPspinArena: BTC, plus USDC and ETH on Base, held as a USD balance on the site. Withdrawals need you to have wagered at least half of what you deposited, with a $20 minimum.
  • CoinWager: SOL, with deposits from other chains converted automatically, held in a site balance.
  • Solpump and Suigar: bets are signed from your own Solana or Sui wallet. Solpump's terms still cap daily winnings at EUR 100,000 and reserve KYC checks at any withdrawal level.

A custodial balance can be frozen by the operator; a wallet-signed bet carries smart-contract risk instead. Searches for bitcoin coinflip also turn up a Bitcoin ATM brand with a similar name, which has nothing to do with the game. Skin-based flips share the age and licensing problems covered in our case battles guide, and more on crypto-only sites is in the P2P crypto casino guide.

Fast flips make it easy to chase losses. Free, confidential help is available from GamCare in the UK, Gambling Therapy internationally, Gamblers Anonymous, and the NCPG helpline on 1-800-GAMBLER in the US.

Where to play crypto coinflip

CSGOEmpire is the only coinflip site listed here, because its Curaçao licence shows Active on the regulator's own certificate page as of October 2026. The Solana and Sui coinflip sites we read name no licence or rely on a register we treat as weak, so they appear below instead.

Coinflip questions

Is coinflip legit?

The flip can be checked on provably fair sites, which publish a hashed seed before the round and reveal it afterwards. The operator is a separate question: as of October 2026 CSGOEmpire is the only coinflip site we found with a licence that shows Active on its regulator's register.

Is coinflip gambling?

Yes. You stake money or skins on a random result for a chance to win more. The UK Gambling Commission treats cashable skins as money's worth, so skin flips count as gambling too.

What is a PvP coinflip?

A coinflip in which your stake is matched by another player rather than the house. The winner takes both stakes and the site keeps a fee.

Is there a coin flip gambling strategy that works?

No. Each flip is a separate 50/50 event, and the fee means the average result is a loss. Changing stakes after wins or losses only changes how quickly the fee adds up.

What is a bitcoin coinflip?

A coinflip staked in bitcoin, as on PVPspinArena, which takes BTC deposits. Most of the PvP coinflip sites we found run on Solana or Sui, or take CS2 skins.

Can a crypto coinflip site cheat?

On a provably fair site, changing a result after the seed hash is published would show up when the seed is revealed. A site can still put a bot or its own account on the other side, freeze a custodial balance or refuse a withdrawal.
