Dice duels: crypto dice PvP and jackpot pots
Dice duels are a crypto dice PvP format: two players stake the same amount, each gets a roll, and the higher roll takes the pot minus any fee. This guide also covers jackpot pots, where many players pay into one pot and each player's chance of winning matches their share of it. Both run on seed-based randomness, and the last section shows how to check a provably fair dice roll step by step.
How a dice duel works
Choose a duel or a pot
Open duels sit in a lobby with the stake set. Jackpot rounds show the pot so far and a countdown.
Seeds are committed
The site publishes a hash of its secret server seed before play. In CSGORoll's PvP battles each player's server-seed hash appears the moment they join.
The rolls or the draw happen
In a duel each player's roll is calculated from the seeds. In a jackpot one ticket is drawn when the timer ends.
The winner is paid
The higher roll, or the winning ticket, takes the pot after the site's fee.
Check it afterwards
The site reveals the server seed. Hash it, compare it with the commitment, then recompute the roll.
Illustrative · no real money
Worked example
Illustrative jackpot round with four players and a 5% pot fee, the rate PVPspinArena, Solpump and CoinWager publish for their jackpots. Every cent buys one ticket.
| Player | Stake | Win chance | Net if they win | Average result |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Player A | $5.00 | 5% | +$90.00 | -$0.25 |
| Player B | $15.00 | 15% | +$80.00 | -$0.75 |
| Player C | $30.00 | 30% | +$65.00 | -$1.50 |
| Player D | $50.00 | 50% | +$45.00 | -$2.50 |
| Pot | $100.00 | |||
| Fee (5% of the pot) | -$5.00 | |||
| Winner receives | $95.00 | |||
Every player's average loss is 5% of what they put in, whatever their share. A bigger stake buys a bigger chance, not better odds, and Player D still loses $50 half the time.
Dice duels against players, not the house
A dice duel game puts a second player where the house would normally sit. CSGORoll, for example, lists Dice-Duels as "1v1 dice battles, where the highest roll wins" alongside its case battles. It publishes no fee for the mode and holds no gambling licence, so it is not listed on this site.
Be careful with names. Standard crypto dice is a single-player game against the house, and some of it carries duel branding: Duel's "Duel Dice" is a house-banked Duel Original, with a base edge of 0.1% that Duel refunds as rakeback within a daily allowance. CaseBattles.gg also lists a game called Duels among its house games, with a 5% house edge.
A dice duel is pure chance. Each roll is fixed by the seeds before it is shown, so no dice duel winning strategy, stake pattern or timing changes the odds. The fee does the damage: at a 5% pot fee, the rate several sites charge on coinflip and jackpots, 100 duels at $10 each cost about $50 on average. Rolling dice for money is gambling, so the same licensing questions apply as for a crypto coinflip, which is the same 50/50 contest with a coin instead of dice.
Jackpot gambling: stake-weighted pot draws
In jackpot gambling, any number of players pay into one pot before a timer runs out, and one entry wins the lot minus a fee. Your chance equals your share of the pot. As of October 2026:
- PVPspinArena: every cent is one ticket, and 5% of the pot is kept at settlement.
- Solpump: rounds last 60 seconds, your chance is your SOL divided by the total pot, deposits run from 0.001 to 100 SOL, and the winner gets 95%.
- CoinWager: its own example puts 1 SOL into a 100 SOL pot for a 1% chance, with a 5% edge taken from the pot.
Because the fee comes off the whole pot, it includes your own stake. A player who puts in half of a $100 pot and wins collects $95, only $45 more than they paid. The same stake-weighted draw appears as Jackpot mode in case battles, where your chance matches your share of the value unboxed.
Read the bonus and withdrawal rules too. On PVPspinArena, bonus money lost to another player "stays bonus", and you must wager at least half of what you deposited before withdrawing, with a $20 minimum. Solpump's terms cap daily winnings at EUR 100,000.
Provably fair dice: server seed, client seed and nonce
Provably fair dice uses a commit-reveal scheme, so the site has to fix the result before it knows your bet and can be caught if it changes it later. It has three inputs:
- Server seed: a secret random string chosen by the site. Before any bet the site publishes its SHA-256 hash, which is the commitment.
- Client seed: a string you can set yourself. The site cannot predict it, so it cannot pick outcomes in advance.
- Nonce: a counter that goes up by one with each bet, so the same pair of seeds gives a new result every round.
CoinWager publishes its formula: HMAC-SHA256 with the server seed as key and "clientSeed:nonce:0" as the message; the first 8 hex digits of the output are read as a number and divided by 4,294,967,296 (2 to the power 32); multiplied by 100, that gives a roll from 0 to 100. Its published demo values reproduce exactly with standard SHA-256 and HMAC-SHA256 tools:
| Step | Value |
|---|---|
| Commitment shown before betting | c6307e535d495b86...4e5f2ec5 |
| Server seed revealed afterwards | 5dbb56b1b479d15e...1c661ab0 |
| SHA-256 of the revealed seed | c6307e535d495b86...4e5f2ec5, matches the commitment |
| Client seed and nonce | coinwager-demo-2026, nonce 1 |
| HMAC-SHA256 output | 82ca845f921ae38c... |
| First 8 hex digits as a number | 2,194,310,239 |
| Divided by 2 to the power 32, times 100 | 51.09 |
How PvP sites adapt it
With two players there is no single client seed both sides trust, so PvP sites replace it with a public seed that nobody, the site included, knows until every play is committed. For its PvP case battles, CSGORoll commits a server seed for each player on joining, takes the hash of an EOS blockchain block that has not yet been mined as the public seed, and uses the PvP play ID as the nonce. CSGOEmpire's coinflip uses a private seed, the round ID and an EOS block mined after the challenger joins, and publishes a verification script (CSGOEmpire).
A verified roll settles one thing: the result was fixed before the bet. The fee, the operator's licence, who holds your balance and whether the other seat is a bot are separate checks, and they matter more on the unlicensed sites where most of these games run.
What goes wrong in crypto dice PvP
- The other player is the house. CSGOEmpire lets a site bot join coinflips, and in Suigar's PvP lobby on 27 October 2026 an account named suigar.sui was in every recent duel listed.
- No licence, no complaints route. PVPspinArena names no company or licence, and CoinWager publishes no terms. If a withdrawal stalls, there is no regulator to go to.
- Custody and contracts. PVPspinArena holds your money as a USD balance, while wallet-based dapps carry smart-contract risk: Suigar's terms list "bugs, contract vulnerabilities" among its risks.
- Speed. Rounds settle in seconds, so losses build quickly. GamCare (UK), Gambling Therapy (international) and the NCPG helpline on 1-800-GAMBLER (US) offer free help.
How we decide which of these sites to list is set out in how we review.

Where dice duels run
No dice duel or jackpot site meets our listing rules as of October 2026: the PvP dice and jackpot games we found run on sites with no licence we could verify. The nearest licensed option is coinflip at CSGOEmpire, covered in the coinflip guide.
Also offering dice duels, not listed here
- CSGORoll: Lists 1v1 Dice-Duels; Max Stacks Limited (Nevis), no gambling licence claimed and no fee published.
- PVPspinArena: Jackpot with a 5% pot fee; names no company or licence.
- Solpump: 60-second SOL jackpot with a 5% fee; Tuvalu licence listed only on a register run by the authority's appointed agent.
- CoinWager: SOL jackpot with a 5% edge; anonymous, with no terms published.
- Duel Dice: House-banked dice game, not player-versus-player; Duel is not listed on this site.
- Rollspace: Its docs describe a PvP YOLO jackpot, but the live game pages returned errors on 27 October 2026.
Fees and country lists come from each site's own terms on the date above; check them again before you deposit.
Dice duels: where it is legal
Dice duels and jackpot pots are chance games for money, so the player's own country decides whether they are legal.
| Country | Position |
|---|---|
| United Kingdom | Serving British players without a Gambling Commission licence is a criminal offence. Solpump lists the UK as restricted. |
| United States | UIGEA leaves the question to state law. Solpump and Suigar exclude the US, and CSGORoll restricts a list of states. |
| Canada | Ontario's regulated market runs through iGaming Ontario for players 19 and over in the province, and CSGORoll lists Ontario as partly restricted. |
| Australia | The Interactive Gambling Act bans online casino games, and ACMA had blocked 1,822 illegal gambling and affiliate sites by September 2026. CSGORoll bars Australia. |
| India | The Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act 2025 bans online money games from 1 May 2026, whether they rely on skill, chance or both. |
| EU | Solpump restricts France, Germany, Spain and the Netherlands. Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden require national licences. |

Dice duels questions
What is a dice duel?
A dice duel is a two-player game in which both players stake the same amount and the higher roll takes the pot after the site's fee. CSGORoll is one site that lists Dice-Duels as a 1v1 mode.
How does jackpot gambling work?
Players pay into one pot before a countdown ends, and one entry is drawn as the winner. Your chance equals your share of the pot, so 1 SOL in a 100 SOL pot gives a 1% chance, and the site keeps a fee, commonly 5%, from the total.
Is provably fair dice really fair?
It shows that the roll was fixed by seeds committed before your bet. You can confirm it by hashing the revealed server seed and recomputing the roll with your client seed and nonce. The fee still makes every player lose on average.
Is there a dice duel winning strategy?
No. Each roll is set by the seeds before it is shown, and every roll is independent. Stake size and timing change how much you risk, not your odds.
Where can you play crypto dice PvP?
As of October 2026 the PvP dice and jackpot games we found run on sites without a licence we could verify, such as CSGORoll, Solpump and PVPspinArena. None is listed here.
Is a dice duel game the same as crypto dice?
No. Standard crypto dice is played against the house with a fixed edge. In a dice duel your opponent is another player and the site takes a fee from the pot.
